Abstract: This research presents the design and implementation of a 3-phase star delta starter equipped with a thermal overload protection mechanism. The star delta starter is a widely used method for controlling the starting current of induction motors in industrial applications. However, ensuring the protection of the motor against thermal overload is crucial for its safe and efficient operation. The proposed system integrates a thermal overload relay into the star delta starter circuit to detect and mitigate instances of excessive motor heating. The design encompasses the selection of appropriate components, circuit configuration, and testing procedures to validate the system's effectiveness. Through simulation and experimental validation, the performance and reliability of the designed protection system are evaluated. The outcomes of this research contribute to enhancing the safety and longevity of induction motors in industrial settings.

Keywords: 3-phase, star delta starter, thermal overload protection, induction motor, circuit design.
