Abstract: Maternal and child health outcomes in low-income neighborhoods are often disproportionately affected by social determinants such as poverty, access to healthcare, education, and social support networks. This essay investigates the impact of these social determinants on maternal and child health outcomes, with a focus on low-income neighborhoods. The research methodology includes a literature review of relevant studies from reputed journals to understand the relationship between social determinants and maternal and child health. The findings suggest that addressing social determinants can significantly improve maternal and child health outcomes in low-income neighbourhoods. This essay concludes with recommendations for policy interventions to mitigate the impact of social determinants on maternal and child health.
