Abstract: Value-based healthcare (VBHC) models have emerged as a promising approach to address the challenges of rising healthcare costs and inconsistent quality of care. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the implementation of VBHC models and their impact on service quality and cost. A systematic analysis of literature published up to 2014 examines various VBHC approaches, implementation strategies, and outcomes across different healthcare settings. Our findings indicate that successful VBHC implementation can lead to improved patient outcomes, enhanced care quality, and potential cost savings. However, challenges such as data infrastructure requirements, provider alignment, and payment reform complexities persist. This research provides valuable insights for healthcare administrators, policymakers, and clinicians transitioning from volume-based to value-based care delivery models.
