Abstract: This paper explores different approaches to Part-of-Speech (POS) tagging and their application to the Uzbek language. Although NLP progress has improved tagging in high-resource languages, Uzbek still lacks annotated corpora. This study compares rule-based and stochastic approaches and suggests ways to improve tagging accuracy for low-resource languages.
