Abstract: This paper examines volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in ambient air environments. We look at emission sources, temporal trends, and various regulatory approaches across different regions. Our analysis draws from over 60 academic sources and government documents published before 2019. The findings show declining VOC concentrations in many developed nations. However, emission patterns keep changing. Regulatory frameworks remain fragmented across jurisdictions, creating inconsistent protection levels for populations.
